Sailing Information

Sailing times

A standard Seafari cruise lasts approximately 2-3 hours in the low season and 2 hours in the high season. We run between 1 and 4 cruises per day depending on demand, weather and tidal conditions. In the early and late low season we may run only 1 cruise, which usually sails at 3pm daily or every few days depending on demand. As the season gets busier we sail daily at 10.30am and 3.00pm and in the high season at 10.15pm/1.00pm and 3.30pm.

Booking/Reservations

Booking a seat is usually done on the morning of sailing or the day before as sailing times can vary due to tides and weather conditions. Generally the mid day and afternoon sailings are the busiest so if you would prefer a less crowded atmosphere reserve the morning cruise if possible. During the high season in July and August it gets quite busy if the weather is fine, so it is highly recommended that you reserve your seats.

What to Bring

It is always cooler on the water even on the sunniest of days and the best view of the wildlife is always outside or “on deck” so bring 2 pullovers and a jacket and hat. That way you can sit outside to get the best view of the seals.

You are likely to get a view of the seals from Seafari that would bring saliva to the lips of Attenborough or Bellamy so, bring your cameras and video-recorders and plenty of batteries and films so that you can record your encounter. If you have your own binoculars bring them as the ships’ binoculars have to be shared among all the guests.

While we serve the occasional sweet, tea, coffee and cookies and have a small shop on board, you are welcome to bring a picnic or sandwich on board. Alcohol may only be taken on board with the captain’s permission!
